The Miyori Tsuriba is one of the coolest spots in Nikko. We drove from Utsunomiya but people come from all over Japan to enjoy this unique fishing place. It's not some small fake cement pond they just toss fish in, your fishing in an actual river in a beautiful valley filled with peaceful nature. If you catch some fish (we managed to get two! Yeah!) they can prepare them in unique ways for a discounted price. The fried fish was insanely good and so crispy and meaty. The shioyaki was delicious, juicy, and perfectly cooked. And we also enjoyed sashimi which was so delicious with the freshly grated wasabi which touched my heart and my stomach too! There is a lovely shop and a beautiful indoor dining area filled with the history of the Miyori area. We enjoyed a lovely chat with the mother of the owner and everyone in the family welcomed us graciously and showed us how to fish well even though we're total beginners. Looking forward to bringing my family there again this summer to play in the water and try catching fish by hand. Thank you Shiono family for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful piece of Japan.

My first visit was on the last day of Golden Week! We reserved a BBQ space near the fishing area. It was convenient to be able to park our car right next to the BBQ area.
